DONALD STEELE, CEO, Chairman of the Board
Donald is actively involved in directing and managing Pacific BioEnergy since 2002. With over 30 years of entrepreneurial investment and business building, he brings a broad range of skills and experience to the organization. Don holds a BSc (Biochemistry) from the University of British Columbia, an MBA (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario and a BFA (Visual Arts) from Emily Carr University.
JOHN STIRLING, PRESIDENT
John Stirling has been an integral part of developing the biomass industry in both Canada and USA since 2006 and recently joined Pacific BioEnergy Corporation as President in September 2018. John is responsible for the company’s global strategy, including developing the company’s growth and productivity initiatives, maintaining and forming new business and industrial partnerships, overseeing domestic and international affairs, and providing local functional support.
With an MBA – Operations & Finance, BS Mechanical Engineering and BA in Economics, John has held both President and CFO roles at various wood pellet manufacturing plants within Canada and the USA, following an executive level career in the areas of corporate finance, business development, marketing and project management.
PAUL KALIL, Vice President, Capital Projects
Paul started with Pacific BioEnergy in November of 2017. In this capacity he is leading the development of new green-field plants, new technology systems, and supporting existing operations with upgrades and risk reduction projects. Since 2012, Paul has been providing Management and Project Management services to the wood products industry. Most recently, he acted as COO for Cogent Industrial Technologies of Richmond BC, a leading industrial automation service provider. Prior to 2015 he worked with Pacific BioEnergy, developing new plant proposals and running a number of capital projects for the company. From 2015 through 2016, Paul provided Owners Engineer services to Canfor/PBEC during the construction and commissioning of two pellet plants in the BC Peace country.
SHAWN BELLS, Vice President, Operations
Shawn joined Pacific BioEnergy in 2010 and has been involved in the forest industry for the past 25 years. Shawn practiced all aspects of forestry from silviculture to harvesting before transitioning to operations in both sawmilling and value added plywood manufacturing. Shawn is a Registered Member of the Association of BC Forest Professionals and holds a BSc In Forest Resource Management from the University of Alberta.
TAKAYASU NAKAMURA, Vice President, Corporate Planning and Administration
Takayasu joined Sumitomo Corporation in 1993 and has primarily been extensively engaged in trading woodchips for pulp, board manufacturing (MDF) and more recently in bioenergy marketing in Japan, China and Europe. Takayasu, over a 10-year period at Sumitomo South America, managed companies dedicated to afforestation, woodchip export and wood pellet production in the Republic of Chile. Takayasu brings extensive knowledge of Pacific Rim woodchip and fibre trading to Pacific BioEnergy. Takayasu holds a B.A from the International Christian University in Tokyo.
